Job Description

Role and Responsibilities: With direction from the Homeless Prevention and Response Team, performs office and field work involved in providing psychiatric and social work services for clients.

Provides guidance and assistance to persons in need of psychiatric care and counseling, who may be antagonistic or afraid.

• Interviews clients and confers with families and necessary entities to obtain significant social, psychological, and psychiatric and other data for diagnosis and treatment.
• Prepares complete, concise, and accurate informative histories of clients incorporating pertinent information supplied by outside agencies.
• Provides assistance to patients who need help in making satisfactory adjustments.
• Maintains liaison with community councils and with religious, civic, and social agencies.
• Answers difficult inquiries.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Requirements

Graduated from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in social work.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of: social work theory and terminology, public and private welfare, health and educational agencies and psychology of accepted principles of individual and group behavior.

Ability to : collect and make appraisals of information and social relationships of clients, comprehend economic, social, and emotional problems of clients, and prepare correspondence in accord with procedures.
